Odisa milagai is a green chili side dish for curd rice. During summer we get lot of green chili. Here is dish which is very tasty and can be used as a side dish even for upma, dosa. It has shelf life more than a month when stored in fridge.
Ingredients:
Green chili - 30 numbers
Tamarind - lemon size
Salt -1 tbs or as required
For seasoning:
Gingely oil - 1 tbs
Mustard seed - 1 tsp
Hinge - 1/4 tsp
Methi seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Curry leaves - few
Method :
- Wash the green chili and dry for 10 mins after draining the water well.
- Soak tamarind in hot water, extract the juice and keep aside.
- Cut length wise. If the chili is too long, cut into two and then cut length wise.
- Heat the oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
- Add methi seeds and hinge once the mustard seeds splutter.
- Add turmeric powder, curry leaves and the cut green chili and sauté for 2 minutes.
7. You will get the aroma of the chili and the chili starts splutter.
8. Extract tamarind juice and add to the green chili.
9. Boil till it turns into a thick chutney.
10. Store in a dry glass or plastic container. Use dry spoon while handling.
